One of Those "It's Funny Later" Stories

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians. As any Canadian knows, this past weekend was Turkey day north of the 49th. But what I'm about to write here, is not for the faint of heart (or rather stomach!).

For turkey day this year, I made the trek up to my Uncle's place on the Sunshine coast in British Columbia. The weather was perfect, the drive was perfect, and well, the food was just to die for.

As you can see, even Chico was having the time of his life, running around the wide open space of the farm. Chico spent the weekend checking out all the new smells, running and chasing away the horses. Chico also managed to get into the turkey day garbage for a little less than 30 seconds, but as it turns out, this was his worst move of the weekend.

Starting the Monday as we travelled to Victoria, BC, Chico didn't eat much for breakfast. This is unusual for our extremely food oriented little boy. I figured he was stressed about the bag packing again and was worried that he was going to be left at the farm. During the 4 hour trip to Victoria, Chico vomitted twice (no, it's not as gross as human vomit), but still YUCK! Again he ate very little for dinner. The following Tuesday morning we woke up to more vomitting and this time no breakfast.

Time for a vet... now

Finding the Central Victoria Animal Hospital, we hopped in the car and headed to meet Dr. Heather. With a quick exam, and surprisingly no fight from Chico about being touched by strange people, there was nothing obviously wrong. Chico then proceeded to have his first xray.

Upon review, it turns out that Chico has a wonderful bone structure, a perfect heart, some great intestines and a very very full stomach. I draw your attention back to when I mentioned just how much Chico was eating. Getting a shot of "help your stomach break stuff up" medicine, we headed home to return later in the day.

Chico walked no more than 5 feet in the door and he started with the vomiting again. It was huge! Chico had to back-up to get it out of his mouth! Going to clean it up, I realize immediately that it was a Paper Towel.

Not just any peice of a paper towel; an entire, unbroken, untorn, Bounty (the quicker-picker-upper) full sized paper towel!! Could you imagine having one of those things soaking up everything in your stomach? Double Yuck!

Chico spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping or begging for food. A return trip to the vet showed a stomach full of air, and a clean bill of health.

Yes, Chico is a maniac again.
