What's up with the Canadian's this weekend?

I'm not exactly sure what happend to Canadian ettiquette, but I haven't seen it at all this weekend. Coming across the border, there was a huge wait (apparently the government can't afford to put more than 2 security guards to quiz cars)... I guess it wasn't just the fact that there were two of them, it was more that they decided to ask about 10 times more questions than normal.... and I'm Canadian!!!

Well, after getting cut off, snubbed and almost driven off the road trying to work my way up to the border guard, I was pretty upset at that point. I ended up driving around Vancouver on this sunny Saturday to do some chores that I had to do, I had an old man slow down, and looked like he was letting me in, so I sped up and darted in front of him. As I'm courtesy waving, I get the honk. WTF? I mean *you* slowed down, isn't that the universal move for "go ahead guy"... Apparently not this weekend.

I did manage to find a nice Canadian this weekend. I was in Future Shop which is essentially the Canadian equivalent to Best Buy. There was this girl buying a wireless card for her computer and naturally, the attendant at Future Shop only knew 1/2 of what he was talking about. We ended up chatting for about about wireless networking (one of my favourite things). We parted quickly, but at least she didn't honk at me ...

On the way home, I had someone else honk at me, but at this point, I was so annoyed, I had the windows down and my music blaring!

Just FYI: Canada isn't usually this bad, perhaps mother's day weekend has really given Canadian's a reason to rush!
