When Without Power, Stay with Friends ...

As you probably know from my Photo Blog, the North West was hit with a pretty big windstorm. According to Puget Sound Energy, 750,000 of their 1,000,000 customers lost power. 95% of that is restored as of today, that doesn't include the 5 buildings (20 homes) 3 buildings over from me. We can't really complain about their generators running. Oh, and don't use coal or gas indoors, CO2 sucks.

My wife and I consider ourselves fortunate, we lost power about 1:00 am on Friday morning (we know this because all 4 of my UPS's started beeping, one of which is in my room). When we got up, we decided to drive around, which is when we took the pictures. We headed over to Buster & Olly's place, they have Natural Gas.

We spent the remainder of the day hanging around the gas fireplace, playing monopoly. As you can see, Chico, Buster and Olly were definately enjoying themselves in the dark, next to the fireplace:

Leaving the warmth of natural gas, we headed back home to our cold dark place. We crashed under many blankets.

... This is where our luck kicks in.

My house is a mile away from the Puget Sound backbone running through the town. Power for us, was restored by 10am on Saturday morning, 33 hours after it went out.

We had power-less house guests all weekend.
